The reverse direction. An image is analyzed for color, contrast, and composition; those features become pitch, rhythm, and harmonic structure, produced as MIDI and rendered as audio. Voice-leading rules borrowed from common-practice harmony shape what the image gets to say. What interests the work is the slippage — what survives the translation, and what new thing emerges when a painting has to sing.
